WR gets new life

So when everyone rides big bore 300 kits or a 350 and you're on a 250 what do you do? While the super quiet WR250f was always right there, now if you notice in the latest vid (CUB Trail) the old intake sound is gone and the exhaust sound has taken over.

Sunday was the test ride of the new FI mapping and an much more open exhaust silencer. And WOW, does she ever go now. I didn't think I was giving up much with the quiet exhaust but there is no going back now. A little more testing on the FI mapping and maybe some pre-season tuning but this bike feels a lot lighter with a huge mid to top end power boost. And she really likes to rev now.

Let's ride, and you'll be eating my M5B rooost. Haha.

Did you install the YZ F or FX silencer, or something else entirely?

(Bryon Enns) #3

YZ-FX but it's the same as the YZf. Gonna get a proper sparky one tho.

Reviving this old thread to say I got a Pro Moto Billet spark arrestor end cap plus just installed the Vertex hi comp piston. Up from 13.5:1 to a snappy 14.2:1 and she does have a bit more punch. Also put in the biggest piston. Stock clearances are 0.0012-0.0022" and max 0.0060". The original factory Yamie piston came out at 220 hours at 0.0020" and the vertex went in at 0.0010" clearance. Nice and tight just like I like it. Running about 20% race fuel now to prevent detonation while trying to keep the 450FX guys in sight.

How is the 1/8 throttle response? Do you find it lurchy/snatchy when initially opening the throttle?

(Bryon Enns) #6

Smooth as ever 1/8 throttle etc. Just able to pull 2nd gear more in the McNutt style trails.
